Section Header – Form Enhancement

  • Use single line of text columns (fields).

  • Form Header

    • The column name is not displayed on the page and instead is used to identify that it is a “header” when viewing list columns on the list settings page.

    • Use single line of text columns (fields).
    • Under Additional Column Settings, the “Description” field is the critical piece that turns the “default value text” into a header; it must contain exact text as explained below.

    • The Default Value – must be “text” and this is the text that will display as the Section Form Header text within your form.

    How to Add a

    Section

    Form Header


    1. Go to the list that needs the section Form header (Site Actions>View Actions > View All Site Content>your  > your list) then to the list settings.
    2. Click "Add new column".
    3. Column Name: not used/displayed in form – name could contain "Header – (your choice)"  (or some text to identify within the columns listed in the list settings page).
    4. Type of Column: Single line of text
    5. Description: this  This field must contain the text “Header Section” (the system is looking for this exact phrase), a dash (hyphen) and your chosen colour (in hexadecimal code)
      Example:  Header Section - #94FFGG #CCD8FF. Using only the required text 'Header Section' (i.e. no specified colour) will mean the default colour will be used. You can set the Default Colour when setting up this add-on for the first time.
    6. Default Value: Text
    7. Default Text: Your choice of Header Name (for display The text that will be displayed in the form.
    8. Click OK to save the new Column (form Header).
     
    1. Go into Content Type settings, under Columns and choose Column Order.
    2. Order the new Column in the desired position for your Form.

    * Please note if you do not put in a hex colour code the system will use a “default colour” (see example below)
