Overview


The form security configuration is used to limit the fields a user is able to edit on a form based on their security groups. An example of where is can be used is on forms which have a Staff section and a Supervisor section.



How-to


To enable field security

  1. In the site administration section of your site in the Features and Utilities section, select the "Form Security Configuration"
  2. Add a new item to the list
  3. Active: enable or disable the security setting
  4. List : select the list where the security settings will be applied
  5. Content Type : select the list content type/form where the security setting will be applied
  6. Type : select the type of security
    1. Field Security -  this will set permissions on the new, edit and display form of the selected field to the selected groups
    2. Lock Section - this will prevent editing of the selected fields.
    3. Lock Entire Form - this will prevent any editing of the full form once the selected field contains data.



Field Security Type Settings

  1. Start Field : select the first form field to apply the security settings
  2. End Field : select the last form field to apply the security settings

    The field drop down will display the form field in the order they appear on the form which is set in the list content type settings


  3. New Form Permission : select the security groups which have access to enter data in a new form
  4. Edit Form Permission:
    1. Set permission by
      1. Security Group - apply permissions based on site security groups
      2. Current User - apply permissions based on the logged in user or any people and groups column on the list
    2. Select security group or user who will be able to edit the specified field
    3. Field visibility - set the visibility for security groups/users who do not have access to edit the form field. Normally this field will be set to "Read Only". The option of "Hidden" allows you to hide highly sensitive data if warranted.


  5. Display form permission

Lock Section Type Settings


  1. Start Field : select the first form field to apply the security settings
  2. End Field : select the last form field to apply the security settings
  3. New Form Permission:


Lock Entire Form Type Settings


  1. Field - The field selected here when filed by the user will lock the form for all users who attempt to edit the form
