The Site Column Gallery stores all column types existing on your site. Site columns are column templates that can be used over and over and inserted into any list or library. Site columns, like custom columns, can take on a variety of types: single line of text; multiple lines of text; choice field; and more. Drop-down menu columns are commonly used in multiple lists or libraries that collect similar information.
