Disable/Enable an Employee / Disable or Enable a User

This article provides you with everything you need to know about enabling and disabling a user on your ShareVision Site


Requirements

Before enabling or disabling users on your ShareVision site, you will need to

  • Login with ShareVision Administrator permissions 
  • Have an idea of the user you would like to enable or disable

How to Access

  1. Select the gear in the upper right hand corner and then select Site Administration:


  2. When prompted, enter your ShareVision Administrator username and password and select Sign In.

                                                                                  
  3. In Site Administration, select Disable/Enable an Employee under Employees and Security.

  4. On this page, you can Disable a User, Enable a User, or Re-Enable a User.



Disabling a User

Disabling a user will ensure they are blocked from accessing any and all ShareVision websites they currently have access to. Disabling a user is a good step to take when an employee leaves the organization as it ensures they are no longer able to access information they could before. 

IMPORTANT

  • When a user is disabled, the change will be immediate. If the disabled user was on your ShareVision site when disabled, the next link they click will redirect them to the login page where they will be unable to access the site.

  • Be sure to review the Disabling an Employee (or User) Account: Recommended Steps
  1. To disable a user, find them in the Disable User drop down list in the Disable a User section. All active users on your site will be listed here.

  2. Once a user has been selected from the dropdown, select the Disable Account button.


Enabling a User

Any user listed in the Enable a User section has tried to login incorrectly with the wrong password three times. After the third failed attempt to login, the login screen will refresh and the user will be prompted to enter their User Name. If they enter their User Name and then select Request Password Reset, the system will send an email to the email address associated with their account. The email will include a link that the user can select to reset their password. 



If the user chooses not to reset their own password, then their account which was automatically disabled by the system after their third failed attempt to login will be listed in the Enable a User section. 

  1. To enable an account that has been disabled after three failed login attempts, select the user from the Enable User drop down list in the Enable Account section.

  2. Next, select Enable Account.
  3. Once enabled, the user will be able to use their account as before.




Re-Enabling a User

When a user has been disabled by a Sharevision Administrator, they are moved to the Re-Enable a User section. The Re-Enable a User section contains only those users that have been disabled by an Administrator. It is important to double check that a disabled user account should be re-enabled before doing so. Once re-enabled, the user will have the same set up and permissions on the site as before being disabled. 


  1. To re-enable a user, select the user from the Enable a User drop down list in the Re-Enable a user section.

  2. Once the appropriate user has been selected, click Enable Account.
