There are 12 possible custom column types. Selecting a column type reveals new column settings.


Default Value of Columns 

This setting is used for all column types. It sets the default value for the column. For example, a choice column may have a default value of No. This value will automatically be applied to the column unless modified by the user filling in the form.

Person or Group

The Person or Group column is a special type of lookup column that retrieves information only from lists of people or lists of security groups.

Show field asks you to specify which field in the source list the information should be retrieved from.

Hyperlink or Picture

Pictures are now added using the ArtfulBits Image Upload column.

Calculated (Calculation Based on Other Columns)

Calculated fields can be based on a mathematical  formula to calculate a numeric value, such as a date; or, they can be text based, applying a technical formula to return a specified result. For example, it might take data from 2 separate columns, like City and Province, and apply formatting to them to create a name, like Vancouver, BC.

Filtered Lookup

Lookup to another list and filter its column contents.

Not all lists can be filtered. Reopen the Get information from menu and select another list.  Additional fields appear for lists that can be filtered.
