View and/or Edit Existing Security Group Permissions

Overview


Security groups are what sets the permission level for each users account. These user group set what users are able to create, view, edit, and delete items on your site.



How to create a Security Group


  1. In the site administration section of your site, select "Add a New Group"
  2. Enter the groups name
  3. Select the groups permissions level (Note: it is possible to create a group with no permission level selected)
  4. Select Create


Permission levels


  • Full Control - Users in with this permission level have complete control of items
  • AddEdit - Users with this permission level are able to add and edit items on a list
  • Delete - this permission levels gives users the ability to add, edit and delete items on a list
  • Read - this permission level gives users the ability to read items on a list
  • Edit Only - Users can only edit existing items in a list. They cannot add new items or delete existing items.
  • Content Approval - For sites that are using the Content Approval feature available in Versioning Settings, users with this permission will be able to approve content.

A users level of access to a List / Library will be the level permission group which has the highest level of access

Editing Permission Levels for Existing Security Groups


You can edit the permission levels for existing security groups by following the steps below:

  1. Login to ShareVision with a user account that has Site Administration access. Select the gear and then Site Administration:


  2. Next, in Advanced Options, select Site Permission Levels


  3. Select an existing group from the list of groups displayed on the page that appears: 


  4. Select Edit User Permissions


  5. Select and/or deselect the permission levels for the existing security group you selected in step #3 above. 


  6. Select OK and the permission levels will be updated for the security group.
