User Group Landing Portals
Overview
User Group Landing Portals is where you can assign each group a place to "land", this is what their first portal that appears will be after logging in. User Group Landing Portals are useful when you have many different types of users accessing your site with different needs. Perhaps you have parents wanting to check on their child, their landing portal may be the individuals portal where they can click on their son while a staff's landing portal might be the workplace policies.
User Group Landing Portals are an easy way for you to customize your site to match the needs of each group that logs in.
Requirements/Dependencies
Before setting up portals on your ShareVision site, you will need to
- Login with ShareVision Administrator permissions
- Have set up some groups on ShareVision
- Have developed a plan for the information will need to be made available to your ShareVision users (i.e. Consider how many portals you will need, what type of information will be included in each portal, who should have access to each portal)
User Group Landing Portals
Once you have created your groups and decided where you'd like them to land, selecting a User Group Landing Portal can be done in a few simple steps.
Logged in as a Site Administrator, select the gear icon in the upper right corner and select: Site Administration
- When prompted, enter your ShareVision Administrator username and password.
- In Site Administration, select User Group Landing Portals in the Portals and Pages section.
- Select the Group and the Portal then click Assign.
- Login with a user account in that group to verify, in this example sv.staff is in the group GRP Seaside so we will use their login to see if it takes us to the correct landing portal (Residences Portal).
For comparison, sv.admin is in the group GRP Site Administrators which has their User Group Landing Portal as the Home Page Portal.
When logging into the same site as sv.admin as opposed to sv.staff, we are taken to the Home Page Portal as our landing portal after logging in.
A User Group Landing Portal can be selected for each group. If users are in two or more groups they will land on the portal configured for the group that is placed highest in the stack. Click and drag a configuration for a group higher in the stack to make that the default landing portal for users in multiple configured groups.
