Force Password Reset

Overview


The Force Password Reset feature allows you to set conditions in which users are forced to change their password to maintain security on your ShareVision site.


Requirements/Dependencies


To use this feature, the following is required:

  • Login with ShareVision Administrator permissions
  • Set up groups and users on your site
  • Have a plan of which groups you'd like to use this feature for and when


How to Enable the Force Password Reset Feature


  1. Logged in as a Site Administrator, select the gear icon in the upper right corner and select: Site Administration
  2. When prompted, enter your ShareVision Administrator username and password.



  3. In Site Administration, select Feature Settings in the Features and Utilities section.



  4. Click on Force Password Reset Settings



  5. Scroll down to the Force users to reset their password based on the interval set below box and check the box.
  6. Choose a password reset interval from the drop down: never expires, every 3 months, every 6 months or every 12 months. 
  7. Along with the force password reset at the chosen intervals, the Force users to reset their password if changed by the Site Admin box can be checked so that when an admin sets a password for a user, the user is forced to change it upon first successful login. 
  8. If you would like to use force password reset for specific Groups, add the Group(s) that will be forced to periodically reset their password to the left side by selecting the Group(s) on the right and using the arrows to move them
  9. Enter a password reset message that you'd like users to receive when it is time for their password to be changed. This message is required. If this is left empty, this feature will not be enabled.

Force Password Reset Log 


The Force Password Reset Log helps track who has and who has not reset their password. The top section is Passwords Reset by Site Administrators. This section lists:

  • the users whose passwords have been reset by a Site Administrator
    and
  • who have not yet logged onto ShareVision and changed their password.

 


The bottom section will list all users that have reset their password along with the date and time that they reset it.





Note: This list will only include users that have reset their password if they were prompted to reset it by the Force Password Reset Feature. For instance, if a user logs into ShareVision and then selects the Change Password option in the gear in the upper right hand corner or if they select the Forgot Password? link on the login screen and then reset their password, the user will not be added to the list.






Staff Password Reset Guide


When it's time for a user to reset their password they will be presented with a screen where the password can be changed immediately after logging in. The user must change their password in order to access the site.
